Decades of testing revealed that electric and gas dryers perform similarly. We now test only electric models, but their gas versions appear in our ratings because we expect them to perform comparably.

When space is tight, compact laundry appliances have a big appeal. We found that these scaled-down models get the job done, but they differ in important ways, such as how noisy the dryer is. Features vary, too.
