Amazon has plenty of deals every day of the year. But in some cases, a product that’s on sale may not be worth buying at any price. In others, the sale price might not be the bargain it seems.
To help you find the best discounts on quality products, Consumer Reports combs through the offers to find those that have performed well in our labs and homes. With Memorial Day sales just around the corner, we’re already starting to see prices come down and more sales becoming available.
It’s important to bear in mind that the best deals aren’t always the cheapest or those with the biggest discount, especially if the products don’t live up to your expectations. Everything on this list does its job well, so you can add it to your cart with confidence.

TVs
This 50-inch 4K set from Toshiba, a 2021 model that uses the Amazon Fire TV smart TV system, does well for overall picture quality, though not for HDR. These sets are sold mainly at Amazon and Best Buy, and Amazon has the better price right now.
Why it’s a good deal: The set is now $20 less than the previous best price we’ve seen.
Amazon is now selling TVs under its own Fire TV brand, and this model, the Amazon B08SVZ775L, is a 50-inch 4K set in the company’s entry-level 4 series. In our tests, this set does very well for overall picture quality, though like many less expensive TVs, its HDR performance isn’t great.
Why it’s a good deal: This Amazon TV has been fluctuating in price. It was recently just $280, so this isn’t the best discount but it’s still a great price.

Kitchen Tools and Small Appliances
The Dash Digital Tasti Crisp is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and a footprint of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best, earning solid scores for controls and cleaning, and acing our noise test. It shares the honor of being the quietest air fryer in our ratings, along with its analog counterpart, the Dash Express Tasti Crisp.
Why it’s a good deal: We’ve seen this model sell for as low as $55.99 during big sales events, so you may be able to save a few more dollars if you wait til Memorial Day, but this is a great price right now.
The Cuisinart Deluxe Convection TOB-135N Toaster oven stands out for how well it toasts a full batch of bread (four slices fit in this model) and does a pretty impressive job baking muffins and cookies. But it’s just so-so at reheating, so expect to wait a while for those cold leftovers to be warmed through. This 1,800-watt toaster oven has a temperature range of 150° F to 500° F and three rack positions. Beyond bake, broil, and bagels, there are settings for keeping warm and reheating.
Why it’s a good deal: A nearly 20 percent discount is always worth consideration.
The All-Clad KZ750D aces our soup purée tests and is very good at blending frozen fruit and yogurt for smoothies. It operates at variable speeds, including a turbo speed, and comes with a 1-year warranty.
Why it’s a good deal: All-Clad sales are rare, so a 29 percent discount on this handheld blender is more than worth checking out.
Coffee Makers
The Ninja Specialty CM401 is one of the most versatile coffee makers we’ve tested. This terrific all-in-one machine is capable of brewing hot and iced coffee, lattes, macchiatos, and other specialty brews. In our tests, it receives the highest possible marks for brew performance, and its glass carafe handles comfortably. This model is easy to clean and comes packed with features, including an over-ice brew mode for iced coffee, a built-in milk frother, brew-strength control, and brew-size adjustment for everything from travel mugs to full carafes.
Why it’s a good deal: The price for this coffee maker typically fluctuates between $140 and $170, making this low price worth a look.
As its name suggests, the Keurig K-Duo Plus pulls double duty as a single-serve K-Cup brewer and a drip coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe. It performs superbly in our pod tests and decently in our drip tests. Its features include a multiposition removable water reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, auto-shutoff, and programming.
Why it’s a good deal: This coffee maker is down to the best price we’ve seen in weeks, dropping $2 compared with last week.
Cookware
The 6-quart Ayesha Curry Dutch oven, a great option for any cooktop, including induction, is among the easiest to clean of all the models we’ve tested, garnering an excellent score on that test. But weighing in at 15 pounds, this Dutch oven is the heaviest of the 10 in our ratings, and the cooking surface measures only 7 inches in diameter. It heats up quickly but is only so-so at simmering sauce, so you’ll have to be vigilant when you use it for that purpose. That said, it produces a nice loaf of bread in our baking test.
Why it’s a good deal: It has been at this price since January, but before then it was usually at least $75 to $80.
With its pink blush exterior, white ceramic interior, and gold handles, the GreenPan Padova Reserve certainly makes a style statement. But how is it on substance? Not too shabby. In fact, its scores on all our major cooking tasks are top-notch, including a stellar rating for speed of heating. Its handles are sturdy and stay fairly cool to the touch. The nonstick coating is durable, although some of the nonstick pans in our ratings do even better on that test. The 10 pieces are two frying pans, two saucepans, a sauté pan, a stockpot, and four lids.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a substantial discount on an attractive cookware set—back down to the same price we saw for Presidents Day. This price is for the blush pink version. Other colors are on sale for $315 to $350.

JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock
The JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock is at least half the price of other popular models like those offered by Philips and Lumie. But from an ease-of-use standpoint, this model comes out on top. It has two independent alarms (so that you can set them for different times, depending on your routine), seven alarm tones (including “wind bells” and birds chirping), an FM radio, and a fall-asleep mode that simulates a sunset (though it lacks a white-noise option).
Why it’s a good deal: It’s been on sale for about $40 for months, but the on-page coupon helps you save an extra few dollars.
With the evaporative Vornado Huey, keeping a small room adequately moist is no problem: It gets our top score for output. As an evaporative model, it creates moisture by using a fan to blow air over a wet wick, so it’s not as quiet as some models. (Plus, that wick has to be replaced regularly.) There’s no automatic shutoff when the water is used up, but an indicator signals an empty tank.
Why it’s a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen for this model.
With a name like Heat Storm, you expect a lot, and both the Heat Storm Mojave and the Sahara (not currently on sale) hit our spot-heating test out of the park. The Mojave also earns above-average ratings for room heating, hot surface, noise, and ease of use. It weighs 9.5 pounds and comes with a fan and a remote control.
Why it’s a good deal: This model is only $10 more than its best price, making this a great time to buy.

Luna Weighted Blanket
The cover of the Luna weighted blanket is cotton, and it’s filled with glass beads. It does not come with a duvet cover, but you have several colors and materials to choose from if you’d like to buy one separately. Luna says you can wash it in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. A staffer who has tried the Luna weighted blanket found it to be a solid blanket for the budget-friendly price, but the materials didn’t look and feel as smooth and sleek as the pricier options we tried.
Why it’s a good deal: With the on-page coupon, you’re saving even more than the listed sale price.
Headphones
The Sony WF-1000XM4 ranks among our top-rated noise-canceling earbuds, and this is a hefty discount. Expect solid audio quality and noise cancellation, a long battery life, and handy features such as an ambient sound monitoring mode that lets you keep an ear on your environment.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the first time we’ve seen these earbuds on sale since the recent holidays. And the discount comes within $20 of the lowest price, which you won’t find outside of major savings events like Black Friday.
The Soundcore Life Q30 headphones deliver admirable sound quality and noise cancelation. They have an ambient sound monitoring feature and a design that reduces the amount of noise that escapes the earpieces. (No need to share your tunes with someone else!) And at a sub-$100 price, they’re a bargain compared with higher-end noise-canceling models.
Why it’s a good deal: The on-page coupon takes a nice chunk off the full price of these already affordable noise-canceling headphones.

Laptops, Chromebooks, and Tablets
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is a workhorse, earning a spot among the top tablets CR has tested. It’s a great option if you want a large tablet, with its 12.4-inch screen. It does have a shorter battery life than most, at just 7.3 hours for web browsing. It also has expandable storage with a built-in micro SD reader, and it gets high scores for performance, convenience, versatility, and every other test it was put through.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a hefty $200 discount.
The 14-inch Chromebook from HP is good for people who simply need a functional laptop to do things like browse the web and check email. It has an Intel Celeron processor, 4 gigabytes of memory, and 32GB of flash storage. As with other Chromebooks, the idea is that you’re going to be storing most files online. It scored okay in our tests, with our testers noting somewhat middling performance but highlighting its 13-hour battery life while browsing the web.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a significant discount on an already budget-friendly laptop, only $20 more than the lowest price we’ve seen in over a year.

Vacuums and Robotic Vacuums
The Samsung Jet Bot+ receives high marks across the board in CR’s tests, standing out particularly in our tests for cleaning bare floors and edges, as well as in our noise test, where it receives an excellent rating. Its only weak spot is data privacy, where it receives a middling score, but that’s common for the product category. Once the robot docks after cleaning, the self-emptying dock automatically empties the contents from the bot into an enclosed disposable bag in the base.
Why it’s a good deal: At just about 50 percent off, this is close to the best price we’ve ever seen for this vacuum.
This Black+Decker Flex BDH2020FL hand vac earns our top rating for handling pet hair, which is unusual for a small vacuum. It also rates highly for cleaning along edges and almost as well for both carpet and bare floors. It comes with several attachments, including a handy crevice tool, and all the tools stow in the charging dock.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the usual discount we see for this vacuum, which hasn’t been on sale in a while. It has gone on sale for as low as $90, but we don’t expect to see that price until there’s another major sale, such as during Memorial Day weekend.
The 17-pound Dyson Ball Animal 2 has impressive results in CR’s lab tests for carpet cleaning. It aces our bare-floor and pet-hair tests, too. Emissions are clean, so this vacuum won’t spew debris back into the room (although emptying the bin can stir up some dust). It comes with attachments that help you get into tight spaces. In our brand reliability survey, Dyson uprights earned middle-of-the-road scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.
Why it’s a good deal: A 20 percent discount for a Dyson is always worth a look.

Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers
This latest version of Samsung’s smartwatch is an incremental update of the Galaxy Watch4 aimed squarely at consumers who use Samsung’s smartphones. The Galaxy Watch5 has a bright display and also features a mic and speaker for handling phone calls.
From a features point of view, the Galaxy Watch5 offers a robust suite of health and fitness options, including a blood oxygen sensor, ECG monitoring (that could detect irregularities in heart rhythm), and even a sensor claimed to measure body fat. You will, however, need a Samsung Android phone to tap the watch’s full capability, including an array of fitness features under the Samsung Health umbrella. The Galaxy Watch5’s claimed battery life of two days is also relatively short.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a solid 20 percent discount for a formidable smartwatch.
If you’re a walker who wants a very low-cost, basic fitness tracker, the Amazfit Band 5 should be on your shopping list. The model offers sleep and stress-tracking capabilities but doesn’t have built-in GPS or the ability to load a music playlist.
Our testers found the Amazfit Band 5 quite easy to use, and they report that it counts steps accurately. For monitoring heart rate, however, the Amazfit ranks near the bottom of our ratings, so if you rely on heart-rate data for training, you should consider buying a device that delivers better performance.
Why it’s a good deal: Even at full price, this is a bargain compared with other top-rated fitness trackers. So a 20 percent discount only sweetens the offer.
Smart Home
The Arlo Essential Wired Video Doorbell doesn’t perform as well as the battery-powered wire-free version in our lab tests, but the wired doorbell is still a worthy contender for your front door. It offers superb data security, decent video quality, and a good amount of smart features. Its only weaknesses are its sluggish response time for alerts and loading live feeds and its lackluster data privacy, but that’s a common issue with most doorbells we test. Its features include high dynamic range video, voice and app control (via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings; Apple HomeKit requires an Arlo base station), monitoring zones, and prerecorded messages that will play if you can’t answer the door. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person, package, vehicle, and animal detection) require an Arlo Secure subscription.
Why it’s a good deal: This is $10 less than the low price we saw during Prime Day and Black Friday.
The Kwikset Premis smart lock is best for iPhone users because it works with Apple’s HomeKit smart home ecosystem and the Siri digital assistant. In our tests, the Premis is very resistant to kick-ins and lock picking, but it’s susceptible to attack from a cordless drill. Still, this lock comes with some very helpful features, including an access log to keep track of who comes and goes, a tamper alarm, an auto-lock feature, and the ability to create and share PINs with others. Just note that because this lock uses Bluetooth and HomeKit, you’ll also need an Apple TV, Apple HomePod, or Apple iPad (that’s constantly plugged into an outlet) in your home to control the lock remotely.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a decent discount. It has been $139 in the past few weeks, though, so you may want to wait to see if the price drops again to save as much as possible.
