Spotlight Deal
With the evaporative Vornado Huey, keeping a small room adequately moist is no problem: It gets our top score for output. As an evaporative model, it creates moisture by using a fan to blow air over a wet wick, so it’s not as quiet as some models. (Plus, that wick has to be replaced regularly.) There’s no automatic shutoff when the water is used up, but an indicator signals an empty tank.
Why it’s a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen for this model.
Coffee Makers
If you love the look of KitchenAid stand mixers, then you might want to consider this KitchenAid KCM1208DG coffee maker. It features the iconic wraparound metal band from the stand mixers and offers the performance to match. Its many features include a permanent filter, a removable water reservoir, a cleaning indicator, auto-shutoff, brew-strength control, and programming.
Why it’s a good deal: This coffee maker hasn’t been on sale in weeks, but now you can get it for a great low price.
The Nespresso VertuoPlus offers a superb brewing range as well as solid first-cup speed and temperature consistency. In terms of features, this machine comes equipped with a removable water reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, and an auto-shutoff function. And Nespresso pod coffee makers earn top ratings for owner satisfaction and reliability in our member surveys. This machine uses Nespresso’s VertuoLine pods, not the OriginalLine other models use, so make sure you choose the correct pods.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the first time this model has been on sale in months, and it’s only $5 more than the best price we’ve seen.
As its name suggests, the Keurig K-Duo Plus pulls double-duty as a single-serve K-Cup brewer and a drip coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe. It performs superbly in our pod test and decently in our drip test. Its features include a multiposition removable water reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, auto-shutoff, and programming.
Why it’s a good deal: This coffee maker is usually $200. It’s been on sale for $164 for the last few weeks, but the price just dropped another $6, marking the best price we’ve seen in months.
Dutch Ovens
The 6-quart Ayesha Curry Dutch oven, a great option for any cooktop, including induction, is among the easiest to clean of all the models we’ve tested, garnering an excellent score on that test. But weighing in at 15 pounds, this Dutch oven is the heaviest of the 10 in our ratings, and the cooking surface measures only 7 inches in diameter. It heats up quickly but is only so-so at simmering sauce, so you’ll have to be vigilant when you use it for that purpose. That said, it produces a nice loaf of bread in our baking test.
Why it’s a good deal: This is nearly half off the original price.
The 5.5-quart Le Creuset Signature has been at the top of our ratings for years. And while other newcomers perform just as well, the Le Creuset name is still highly sought after. The speed of heating is top-notch, and it’s a cinch to clean. But if you bake a lot of bread, there are better choices. It weighs 12 pounds, less than most, and has an 8-inch cooking diameter. The loop handles are nice and wide.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a big discount on cookware that usually costs over $400.
At a little over 7 pounds, the Merten & Storck German Enameled Iron 1873 is the lightest Dutch oven in our tests. That’s because it’s made of enameled carbon steel instead of enameled cast iron, like the rest of the models we tested. Not only is it easier to lift, but it also heats up faster. In our tests, it bakes bread like a champ, earning an excellent score, and it’s a cinch to clean. Its performance in our simmering sauce and cooking evenness tests is on a par with most of the other Dutch ovens in our tests.
Why it’s a good deal: While we’ve recently seen both of these colors selling for just under $100, this is still a solid discount.
Countertop Appliances
A CR Best Buy, the GoWise GW22731 air fryer has a measured capacity of 4.9 quarts. Its touch buttons and programmed settings are among the easiest to see and use. And this is one of the quietest air fryers we’ve tested. But the exterior’s crevices and the basket’s nooks and crannies take some effort to clean.
Why it’s a good deal: This is back down to the best price we’ve seen for this air fryer.
The Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY food processor garners a top rating for chopping, meaning it consistently chopped onions and nuts into midsized pieces. And it’s one of the quietest models we’ve tested. It has a 14-cup capacity and stands almost 16 inches high. Many of the food processors we’ve evaluated operate with touch buttons, but this one has levers—one for on, the other for pulsing and off. The warranty covers three years; five for the motor.
Why it’s a good deal: You’re saving $50 on this impressive device.
The electronic controls and programmed settings on the Ninja AF101 are among the easiest to see and use, earning high ratings in our assessments. Cleaning the inside and outside is fairly simple, and the measured capacity is just about average at 3 quarts. Bear in mind that this model runs on the noisy side, with the fan as loud as a countertop microwave.
Why it’s a good deal: Walmart’s price is the best we’ve ever seen for this model.

Cookware
This 10-piece Oxo Ceramic Professional nonstick set is all business, with no extras added to the count, just pots and lids. Cooking evenness is top-notch, earning a top rating in our tests, and the sauce pan brings water to a boil in no time flat. The set is very good at simmering sauces and releasing eggs fried in quick succession. The handles are super-sturdy and stay cool to the touch.
Why it’s a good deal: This nonstick cookware set is a whopping $100 off right now.
Called the Smartnest, this Cuisinart set has six pans that can be stacked for storage. It’s an 11-piece set—with the 11th piece being a lid organizer, which comes in handy for the four lids that fit multiple pans. The pans were consistent performers across our tests, cooking evenly and allowing eggs to slide off easily. And the test results for simmering and bringing water to a boil were almost as good. The handles are sturdy and stay cool to the touch.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve seen for this stainless steel cookware set.
The Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad set has enough pans to satisfy most of your cooking needs while not taking over an entire kitchen cabinet. It excels at cooking evenness and simmering, and earns a very good rating on both the speed of heating and food-release tests. The handles stay safely cool to the touch and are very sturdy. The eight-piece set has two frying pans, two saucepans, a Dutch oven, and three lids.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the biggest discount we’ve seen for this stainless cookware set.
Kitchen Tools
The All-Clad Nonstick Half Sheet Pan costs a lot less than its stainless steel brandmate, making it a great way to start your All-Clad collection without breaking the bank. Cooking evenness and durability both receive above-average ratings, but this pan can be a little more difficult to clean than some of the other coated sheet pans CR has tested.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a budget option for this brand even at full price, and the 15 percent discount makes it even more enticing.
Super Benriner Mandoline
The Benriner is pretty intuitive to use straight out of the box. It’s large enough to slice an onion but not an Italian eggplant. It comes with three blades that shred, julienne, or thread-cut vegetables. The plastic feels sturdy and strong, unlike many of the other models we tried. And the blades are replaceable—if you lose them or they become dull with use—and sold separately for about $10 each. Our evaluators found that the blades had a hard time with soft foods, and the julienne blades can’t handle harder veggies like carrots or sweet potatoes. But the whole device comes apart for easy cleaning.
Why it’s a good deal: CR paid $75 for this device, which originally cost $90, making this sale price the best we’ve seen.
Earning top marks for dry-food sealing and speed, the Geryon E2900-MS is a relatively quiet vacuum sealer. It comes with rolls of plastic for making custom-sized bags but doesn’t include storage for them in the device itself. The device’s control buttons are sensitive to the touch, and it features an accessory port and hose for vacuum-sealing containers with special lids.
Why it’s a good deal: With the on-page coupon, this is the best price we’ve seen for this vacuum sealer.
The All-Clad KZ750D aces our soup purée tests and is very good at blending frozen fruit and yogurt for smoothies. It operates at variable speeds, including a turbo speed, and comes with a 1-year warranty.
Why it’s a good deal: All-Clad sales are rare, so a 29 percent discount on this handheld blender is more than worth checking out.

Bed and Bath
This Brooklinen set will fit a 14-inch mattress (or shorter). Our testers note that these sheets don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we tested. They earn above-average scores for both fit and shrinkage, which means though they do tend to get smaller during washes, they don’t deform all that much over time. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side, based on our sensory test. Labels along each side that read “short side” and “long side” make clear which way to make the bed.
Why it’s a good deal: Brooklinen is offering 25 percent off as part of its annual Birthday Sale. The sale will end May 9.
Brooklinen Super-Plush Bath Towels
The Brooklinen Super-Plush bath towels are perfect for anyone who likes a towel as big as a blanket after their shower. These oversized towels are a whopping 53 inches long and 28 inches wide. They were also the most absorbent in our evaluation but took the longest time to dry. There are lots of color options to choose from as well.
Why it’s a good deal: Brooklinen is offering 25 percent off for its Birthday Sale, the best price we’ve seen for these towels. Just use the code BDAY at checkout to get the savings.
The Talalay latex pillows from Brooklyn Bedding may be a good choice for side sleepers because they got above-average scores for that test. They’re a bit subpar for back sleepers, though. But these pillows got top marks for breathability, so they should help with temperature control while you sleep.
Why it’s a good deal: A 25 percent discount is one of the best offers you’ll see from this brand, making it a compelling reason to buy. Just use the code REFRESH25 at checkout.
Luna Weighted Blanket
The cover of the Luna weighted blanket is cotton, and it’s filled with glass beads. It does not come with a duvet cover, but you have several colors and materials to choose from if you’d like to buy one separately. Luna says you can wash it in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. A staffer who has tried the Luna weighted blanket found it to be a solid blanket for the budget-friendly price, but the materials didn’t look and feel as smooth and sleek as the pricier options we tried.
Why it’s a good deal: With the on-page coupon, you’re saving even more than the listed sale price.
Home Goods
Dohm Uno White Noise Machine
The Dohm Uno white noise machine is a device that’s tactile and mechanical—a white noise machine in its simplest form—although its bulky design might not be for everyone. It’s a physical fan in a dome-shaped case with vent holes that you twist to adjust the volume. There is only one sound, a pure white noise whooshing that comes from the fan’s hum, and one switch to turn it on and off.
Getting this one is a slight gamble in case that one sound isn’t your cup of tea, but most of our evaluators liked it. Because the Dohm is a physical fan, it can cause the surface it’s sitting on to vibrate, which two evaluators experienced, but is easy to remedy by placing the machine on a book.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the only retailer with a discount, and 20 percent off is always worth considering.
iHome Zenergy Sunrise Bedside Therapy Machine
The iHome Zenergy Sunrise Bedside Therapy Machine feels more like a great sound machine than a true sunrise alarm clock, thanks in part to its Bluetooth speaker. While it has a clock, a light alarm (with a maximum intensity of 300 lux from a foot away), and a choice of alarm sounds, we found that it can be hard to set up. The controls are confusing, and the buttons don’t respond immediately. But this device is easier to use once you’ve programmed it. This wake-up light’s best assets are, in fact, its sleep offerings, complete with 15 soothing tones (including melodies and nature sounds) and a guided breathing exercise.
Why it’s a good deal: Amazon’s price jsut dipped $9 to the best offer we’ve seen in months.
The portable Blueair Protect 7470i features a handy filter indicator to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and three speeds. On its highest setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still getting solid results. This model is designed for floor or tabletop use in a space that’s about 420 square feet. It costs about $140 a year to maintain and weighs just under 28 pounds.
Why it’s a good deal: This air purifier usually goes for $600, so this is a decent discount. We saw it selling for $300 at Amazon recently, so you may want to keep an eye out for another major price drop.
Lawn Care
With a 20-inch-wide deck, the Ryobi RY401170VNM cuts a swath just a bit narrower than the slightly higher-rated 21-inch Ryobi RY401200. But it’s at a much more competitive price, especially with this discount. This unit comes with just one battery; its run time is about three-quarters of an hour. Charging the battery with the included charger takes about one and a half hours. Nonetheless, it’s a commendable performer, earning top marks in mulching, evenness of cut, handling, and noise at 25 feet. Its side-discharging and bagging performance—and noise at the user’s ear—all rate almost as high.
Why it’s a good deal: This mower is currently available for its usual sale price. It was recently $50 cheaper, so you may want to wait to see whether the price drops again if you don’t need a new mower right away.
Milwaukee is a brand best known for contractor-grade saws and drills, but the 2828-21 string trimmer proves the company is making inroads into the outdoor tool space. What’s particularly impressive about this model is that it offers stellar performance (including top marks for trimming and edging) while using a small 18-volt battery. That helps keep the string trimmer’s weight down. But more important, that same battery can power saws and cordless drills from Milwaukee, which is a rarity because most battery-powered outdoor tools use bulky batteries of a much higher voltage.
Why it’s a good deal: This trimmer usually retails for over $250, making this a hefty discount.
Mattresses
If you’re looking for a softer mattress that offers support, the Nolah Natural mattress may just fit the bill. It gets above-average ratings for people of all sleep styles and sizes, and it shines when it comes to durability. The only place it falls short is in stabilization, where it gets middling scores in CR’s tests.
Why it’s a good deal: Nolah’s spring sale takes 20 percent off the list price. We’ve seen this mattress sell for as little as $1,329, though, so you may be able to save more if you wait for Memorial Day when discounts tend to be bigger.
This online-only mattress-in-a-box retailer has a 30 percent discount on its mattresses, including its namesake mattress, the GhostBed, which is worth a look. The deal also includes two free pillows, a common extra when buying directly from a mattress brand.
The queen-size GhostBed does well in our tests for supporting petite people who sleep on their back, and it earns top marks for durability, which means it showed little change in performance after eight to 10 years of simulated use in our tests.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the first time this mattress has dipped below $998 in nearly a year, marking the biggest discount we’ve ever seen. CR members may even be able to save a little bit more—just log in to see the details.

Smart Home
The Google Nest Learning Thermostat has been around for a while, but it’s still one of the top models in our ratings, thanks to its impeccable automation skills. It also offers a ton of smart features, including an occupancy sensor, geofencing, and voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. One note: If your current thermostat lacks a C-wire, you might also need Google’s wiring adapter to complete installation. It’s sold separately for $25 at Amazon, Best Buy, Google, and Walmart.
Why it’s a good deal: The thermostat is now just $5 more than the best price we’ve ever seen at Amazon.
If the idea of buying a security camera from a lighting company gives you pause, know that GE Lighting was recently acquired by the high-end home automation company Savant, so it knows a thing or two about security cameras. This Cync indoor-only model offers great video quality, strong data security, and speedy response time in our tests. It also features a microSD card slot for local video storage and a manual privacy shutter, which you can close if you don’t want the camera watching you while you’re home. Other features include voice and app control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Assistant, person detection, and monitoring zones.
Why it’s a good deal: This camera has been on sale for the last month or so, but the price just dipped an additional $8, making it a great time to buy.
Want a battery-powered video doorbell that isn’t made by Amazon or Google? This Arlo model is a great alternative. In our tests, it receives high scores for its video quality and data security, but we found it to be a bit slow when it comes to response time for alerts and the loading of live video feeds. Its features include a rechargeable battery, optional wiring contacts to wire it to a home’s doorbell circuit, high dynamic range for clear video in brightly lit or dark spots, and voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person, package, vehicle, and animal detection) require an Arlo Secure subscription.
Why it’s a good deal: This video doorbell is just $10 more than the lowest price we’ve seen.
The Kwikset Premis smart lock is best for iPhone users because it works with Apple’s HomeKit smart home ecosystem and Siri digital assistant. In our tests, the Premis is very resistant to kick-ins and lock picking, but it’s susceptible to attack from a cordless drill. Still, this lock comes with some very helpful features, including an access log to keep track of who comes and goes, a tamper alarm, an auto-lock feature, and the ability to create and share PINs with others. Just note that because this lock uses Bluetooth and HomeKit, you’ll also need an Apple TV, Apple HomePod, or Apple iPad (that’s constantly plugged into an outlet) in your home to control the lock remotely.
Why it’s a good deal: This is a decent discount. It has been $139 in the past few weeks, though, so you may want to wait to see whether the price drops again to save as much as possible.
The Emerson Sensi Touch ST75 isn’t the most automated smart thermostat, but some consumers prefer a thermostat that doesn’t make changes on a whim. This Energy Star certified model also does quite well in our manual operation tests. Its smart features include app and voice control with the four major systems (Amazon Alexa, Apple Home/Siri, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings), a color touchscreen, smart reminders for filter changes and maintenance, humidity readings, and a backlight for easy adjustments in the dark. Note: This thermostat requires a C-wire for installation. (See our buying guide for more details.)
Why it’s a good deal: Amazon is offering a price that’s within $10 of the lowest we’ve seen, but only for the white model.

Vacuums
The cordless Black+Decker DustBuster Ion HHVI315JO42 is a great low-cost option for small messes, especially for pet owners. It’s top-notch at cleaning bare floors and pet hair, and earns an above-average rating for cleaning carpets. The crevice tool and dust brush are separate, not combination tools like those on other Black+Decker handhelds, and the lack of an indicator light makes it difficult to know whether it’s fully charged when plugged in or about to die when you’re using it.
Why it’s a good deal: This vacuum is back down to the best price we’ve seen at Amazon.
The cordless Samsung Jet 90 Complete vac scores highly in all of CR’s tests and is more powerful than some of its competitors. Our testers like the sleek and solid stand and the digital display that allows you to check the power level, the battery life, and any maintenance issues.
Why it’s a good deal: This has been on sale for a little while, but its price has dropped over $50 in the last few weeks.
The Shark AI Self-Empty robotic vacuum earns top scores for both pet hair and bare floors but isn’t a good candidate for carpet. Once it’s docked, a vacuum built into the docking station automatically sucks the contents from the bin into a bagless container. The upside of this system is that unlike competitors’ models, you don’t need to purchase bags; the downside is that emptying the bin could set off allergies. Shark robotic vacuums earned a top score for reliability but only a middling score for owner satisfaction.
Why it’s a good deal: We usually see this model sell for about $500, so this is a good buy if you’re not dealing with a ton of carpeting.
For more discounts: Best Deals on Vacuums
Large Appliances
The Antarctic Star 36 Bottle Wine Cooler is the best freestanding wine fridge in our ratings by a healthy margin. In our lab tests, it offers very good temperature performance but only decent energy efficiency and middling noise output (meaning it’s somewhat on the noisier side compared with other tested models). This Antarctic Star fridge features temperature controls on the front of the unit, child control locks, and shelf stops, but it lacks a door lock.
Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve seen for this wine fridge by over $100.
The single-oven, gas LG Studio LSDL6336F is one of the best ranges in our tests, across all types. It performs impressively in every test. It has convection, continuous grates, a griddle burner, two high-powered burners, and even a "steam clean" mode for when you don’t need the full force of standard oven cleaning.
Why it’s a good deal: The sale price has fallen $200 since last week, marking a new low.
If you can live with a back panel and rear-mounted controls, this entry-level Frigidaire induction range is essentially the freestanding version of a sleeker slide-in. As with that Frigidaire, it offers speedy heating and strong performance all-around. It’s relatively light on features—it lacks a warming element and a high-temperature self-clean cycle, for instance—but at this price it’s still a steal, a full $100 less than the slide-in with identical performance.
Why it’s a good deal: This was $100 less a couple of weeks ago, but you’re still saving a bundle.
This Whirlpool dishwasher is a strong performer, with a third rack and an upscale look for the price, including integrated controls. Whirlpool also earns a strong rating for predicted reliability and a middling score for owner satisfaction, based on data from our reader survey. It’s similar to lower-end models from the KitchenAid brand, which is also owned by Whirlpool.
Why it’s a good deal: This is already one of the best options under $1,000, and the more than $250 savings makes it even more appealing.
